Ok, I figure that everyone already knows this, but I just realized it. (Call me
slow if you want to.) I've been looking at the prices of many stocks over
varying periods of time, including AAPL, Costco, and Pfizer. Over the past
three months, the price of each bottomed on March 9th. I then looked at the Dow
Jones and the S&P 500, and the same was so for them. My real question is, has
everyone noticed this? -

A: Ok, let's make this clear. I only meant by this question that I had not previously known
what the exact day was when numerous stocks and the Dow Jones all bottomed out. I'm not a
moron. I knew that many stocks reached their lowest points in early-mid March. The exact
date was the only thing new to me. So saying that you started to notice in February
doesn't make any sense, kjp712. Are you saying that you started to realize that the
market would bottom on March 9th in February? No one can guess the exact date when the
market bottoms! That's ridiculous! It's hard enough to estimate the month. So please
stop with the snide comments. more - Resolved

Just wondering what happened to Stockpickr. Once upon a time it was a lively,
feisty, informed site with plenty of posts, plenty of answers and plenty of the
unique visitors that create advertising revenue. It's a decline that is
remarkable when one considers the very high profile of Jim Cramer and the fact
that other financial blogs (such as slopeofhope.com or the Rev's Blog on Real
Money) have anywhere from few hundred posts to more and lack the visibility one
would expect Jim Cramer would impart to this site.

A: Here Pat, here's something from the Governor of Illinois I recieved in January:
"I knew that maintaining silence would just confuse the others and that there was no
way anyone could separate out the falsehoods from the truth. That is a lesson in Public
Relations."

Took a few pictures out at the garden today and was thinking about starting a
'Garden' forum thread. Can somebody give me the syntax needed to post images
over there?
Is it something like "http://domain.com/image.jpg"?
Do the images need to be cut to a certain size?
Thanks!

Clifford Asness, a principal of AQR Capital Mgmt LLC (a $20 billion hedge fund)
has published an open letter rebutting Pres. Obama’s comments about the
Chrysler bankruptcy where Obama criticized a small group of bondholders for not
‘sharing the sacrifice’. I think this is a must read.
Excerpt:
Let’s be clear, it is the job and obligation of all investment managers,
including hedge fund managers, to get their clients the most return they can.
They are allowed to be charitable with their own money, and many are
spectacularly so, but if they give away their clients’ money to share in the
“sacrifice”, they are stealing. Clients of hedge funds include, among
others, pension funds of all kinds of workers, unionized and not. The managers
have a fiduciary obligation to look after their clients’ money as best they
can, not to support the President, nor to oppose him, nor otherwise advance
their personal political views.
