Stockpickrs,
I want to speak to you about backlogs. Cramer is always touting backlogs as a
good thing. I have not much stock experience so I will ask you, why is this a
good thing? My father was an ironworker, and when their projects got back
logged, he got to work overtime to finish the job on time, which cost the
company more money. When I worked as a project secretary at a construction
company, my main job was to fill out "change orders" to request additional costs
because things were not correctly figured and it was going to cost more than
originally surmised. So, I am thinking that a back order will cause company
losses not profits. However, all of the CEOs who come on touting "backlogs"
make it seem like a good thing. What part of the picture am I not understanding
correctly? Please advise.
Many thanks in advance.

Has anyone looked at AMSC (American Superconductor)? They make high temp. wire
that supplies electricity to wind turbines. I put in an order and got it filled
yesterday after waiting a few days. It reported this morning and was up 32%+.
Was this a fluke? I bought it as an investment but should I sell? The company
guided up and has very little debt. They are integrating their acquisitions
well now and I see wind as a continuing trend. -

A: I've been saying AMSC for a while now. I would lock in the gains and go shopping. AMSC
is the Gillette business model of wind. more - Resolved

With the advent of the homegamer, it seems to me like Main Street has met Wall
Street but I never hear any politicians address this issue. I would even say
that Cramer's appearances in Queen Latifah's movie and Iron Man testify to the
sea change of homegamers trading on Wall Street. What percentage of people do
you think are homegamers or IRA holders and how do you think this will affect
the election?

Stockpickrs.
I have 100 shares of a stock that I have a 73% gain on. I would like to sell 50
shares of that to take profit, then I would like to buy some PTR (PetroChina).
PTR is at $147.32 so I can only get 8 shares of it. Its 52 week high is
$266.81. Is it stupid to buy only 8 shares of something? It pays a nice divy,
and I think it would be a good investment. It seems to me like I could possibly
get a double on PTR but is the Chinese so there is risk.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,

A: Thanks all. This is very good and solid advice. Yes, I did take profits one time
before.
Yes, I am wary about buying Chinese, too.
