Q: I am long CMG Focus fund. The fund is now down due to the drop in oil. I believe
in this fund and that they will recover to a nice gain for the year. Does anyone
have an idea where the bottom would be in this fund?

A: Stick with Heebner and dollar cost average, but don't chase last year's winners. That is
typically a bad strategy. more

Q: Dan,
You nailed BAC last week when you said the 20day MA acted as support and that
it could go to $10 pretty easily if it broke out above $8. So thanks for that
one, the drinks are on me. Given it's huge run up in the past few days, where
do you think support is now? (or is it too early to tell?)

A: With regards to NIMBY - there are some big ones outside Bowling Green Ohio where in the
middle of a windy corn field. Don't think anyone cares. They seem to be spinning alot. ) more

Q: Why the prices of oil and other commodities have been falling over the past
month. Why the drop doesn't signal the end of the commodity bull market of the
past few years. Why growth in Asia, especially in China, is likely to accelerate
in the beginning of 2009.
Why inflation is a bigger danger today than at the beginning of 2008.
Why owning commodities as a hedge against inflation is more important than
ever.

A: Interesting article. I assume he would include FLR along with CBI and JEC in his
infrastructure theory. One possible wildcard, however, is the absolute need we have here
to upgrade our power grid to handle larger amounts of energy from more diverse sources
like wind and solar. In some areas of the country (like California and New York, for
example) doing nothing is not really an option. Add that to the fact that our bridges are
starting to crumble beneath us and I see a longer-term bull trend in infastruture plays
here at home.

The rest of the world might be slowing down, but I don't think they're going to stop
building, either... more

Q: why does trading get halted on a stock. I read that Dendreon, DNDN, will
probably be halted later today. That happened also on April 14 when they came
out with initial news on cancer drug.

A: Furthermore, it is possible for heavy shorting of a small cap stock such as Dendreon,
DNDN, to artificially drive prices down a bit. All it would take is a relatively small
amount of manipulation and soon those who have stop losses will sell, and panic will
follow as investors begin to fear the worst. With important news pending, those less
informed will be taken advantage of in this scenario. more

A: After a 27% rally yesterday, I'd be a seller here. I think the most likely scenario is
either a sidways move as profit takers sell to newbies. Or a pullback as profit takers
AND newbies sell to an ever-shrinking pool of buyers. more

A: Oh, and the difference here is that Enron and Worldcom had people taking the other side
hoping the company wouldn't go bankrupt. WM has been seized by OTS. It's over. Done,
kaput. No appeal, no hope. So this is different than Enron and Worldcom, IMHO. more
