With that in mind, let's take a closer look at a several stocks under $10 that are making large moves to the upside today.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies (QTWW) is an integrated alternative energy company engaged in the development and production of advanced clean propulsion systems, and renewable energy generation systems and services. This stock closed up 3.1% to $6.80 in Tuesday's trading session.

Tuesday's Range: $6.59-$6.87

52-Week Range: $1.85-$7.64

Tuesday's Volume: 649,000

Three-Month Average Volume: 718,565

From a technical perspective, QTWW spiked notably higher here with decent upside volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of QTWW within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if QTWW manages to take out Tuesday's high of $6.87 to some more near-term overhead resistance at $6.95 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in QTWW as long as it's trending above some near-term support at $6.12 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 718,565 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then QTWW will set up to re-test or possibly take out its 52-week high at $7.64. Any high-volume move above $7.64 will then give QTWW a chance to tag $8 to $8.50.

Joe's Jeans

Joe's Jeans (JOEZ) is engaged in designing, developing and marketing its Joe's products, which include denim jeans, related casual wear and accessories. This stock closed up 5.3% to $1.18 in Tuesday's trading session.

Tuesday's Range: $1.10-$1.20

52-Week Range: $0.88-$2.04

Tuesday's Volume: 1.13 million

Three-Month Average Volume: 581,271

From a technical perspective, JOEZ ripped higher here right off its 50-day moving average of $1.10 with strong upside volume. This move pushed shares of JOEZ into breakout territory, since the stock took out some near-term overhead resistance at $1.16. Shares of JOEZ are now starting to move within range of triggering another breakout trade. That trade will hit if JOEZ manages to take out Tuesday's high of $1.20 to some past overhead resistance at $1.24 to $1.28 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in JOEZ as long as it's trending above its 50-day at $1.10 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 581,271 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then JOEZ will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $1.37 to its 200-day moving average at $1.44. Any high-volume move above $1.44 will then give JOEZ a chance to tag $1.55.

Apricus Biosciences

Apricus Biosciences (APRI) is a pharmaceutical stock primarily focused on research and development using its drug delivery technology called NexACT. This stock closed up 7.1% to $1.95 in Tuesday's trading session.

Tuesday's Range: $1.85-$2.00

52-Week Range: $1.66-$3.49

Tuesday's Volume: 349,000

Three-Month Average Volume: 215,648

From a technical perspective, APRI ripped sharply higher here right above some near-term support at $1.82 with above-average volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of APRI within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if APRI manages to take Tuesday's high of $2 to some more near-term overhead resistance at $2.06 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in APRI as long as it's trending above Tuesday's low of $1.85 or above more support at $1.82 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 215,648 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then APRI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $2.37 to $2.42. Any high-volume move above those levels will then give APRI a chance to tag $2.60 to $3.

Neonode

Neonode (NEON) develops and licenses optical MultiSensing touch and user interface solutions based on its zForce touch technology. This stock closed up 8.7% to $6.32 in Tuesday's trading session.

Tuesday's Range: $5.72-$6.49

52-Week Range: $3.66-$8.84

Thursday's Volume: 589,000

Three-Month Average Volume: 573,249

From a technical perspective, NEON soared higher here back above both its 50-day moving average of $5.87 and its 200-day moving average of $6.07 with above-average volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of NEON within range of triggering a big breakout trade. That trade will hit if NEON manages to take out Tuesday's high of $6.49 to some more near-term overhead resistance at $6.82 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in NEON as long as it's trending above Tuesday's low of $5.72 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 573,249 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then NEON will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $7.50 to $7.94. Any high-volume move above those levels will then give NEON a chance to tag its 52-week high at $8.84.
